Fortune 500 Utility Company

Overview: 

  • With billions of dollars in damages from forest fires related malfunctions in infrastructure, Fortune 500 Utility Company worked with Protyo to develop an AI-based monitoring system to identify and forecast failure rates of infrastructure equipment at power stations so that actionables can be enacted for supply sourcing and predictive maintenance to reduce operational costs long-term and damages near-term.

The challenge: 

  • After the Fortune 500 Company faced record fines and damages from fires, they needed a means by which to monitor, measure, and forecast failure rates of their infrastructure equipment in facilities so as to pursue actionables. Since the facilities are hazardous environments for humans and can be located in remote areas, the Fortune 500 Company realized that AI and robotics can help solve this critical need without endangering human beings or increasing operational costs at the company.

The solution: 

  • Protyo worked closely with engineering teams at the Fortune 500 Company to develop an autonomous monitoring system that uses hyperspectral imaging and AI to analyze multimodal data and forecast key indicators for failure rates in infrastructure. This data was provided through a cloud-hosted dashboard to the Fortune 500 Company as actionables to intervene in the supply chain and maintenance of their billions of dollars of assets.

The impact: 

  • After close collaboration with the Fortune 500 Company, Protyo helped develop and deploy the AI system on-prem and supported the company in automating their infrastructure to save significant costs near-term and long-term.
